The Location of Boscastle and the Area Affected

Boscastle is a small village in the Northern coast of Cornwall. It is popular with tourists because of the Museum of Witchcraft (which was destroyed in the flooding, to the sadness of many). Boscastle is in the middle of the valley Valency, with sides as steep as a mountain on either side. This meant that the water could run straight down the sides, into Boscastle like a bowl! It is 80 from Plymouth, the nearest town. 2 rivers meet in Boscastle, the river Valency and the river Jordan. These both created a confluence which increased the flooding. The closest main road to Boscastle is the A39.
